Enlisted mans large-Coat size, British 5th regiment of foot button, non dug, from an old collection in upstate New York. Named the "Northumberland Regiment" The button is of one piece casting and shows the exceptional workmanship the British had in the early years. This is the post war type, with inner circle broken and dot. With Arabic "5". This pattern dates @1790-1797. Shank is gone. Slight wear on the front, but otherwise nice patinia. When these buttons were in use, the 5th was stationed in Canada From July,1787, to 1797, serving at Fort Niagara among other places. Then in 1814, participated in the Plattsburg, NY campaign.

This button came my way through the collections of Robert Silverstein, who got it from Mr. William Leigh, who got it from the old collection in upstate NY.
