This New Jersey copper is the running fox style, so named for the fox on the reverse. The Obverse has the classic horse head and plow, and legend (+NOVA+CAESAREA+) latin form of New Jersey, with the date below of 1888. The ears on this one point to the E, while the plow handles point right at the +, just under NOVA. There is not a wreath under the horse head on this one. The reverse has the sprig at the bottom with (+ running fox E+PLURIBUS+UNUM+), with a shield in the middle. The fox on this one is kind of clear, many are not. This is also an interesting one as it now has three die states to it, where back in the day it had a 77 1/2 label. So with that it means that there is a as per the New Jersey State Coopers book says it more like a cocked die clash, right on the mane/ neck area of the horse. As I wanted a 77 in my collection with the running fox as part of my Basic type set, I am lucky to get this one in the DS2 state.
