WELCOME TO THE NEW AND IMPROVED OLD REBELLION WAR RELICS
1773 Halfpenny, 7 harp Strings, Dot after GEORGIVS
Item #: va25
My collection of Va coinage will be just the two I have now. One in uncirculated condition and one circulated. These were not made in the colony of Virginia, rather at the Royal Mint in the Tower of London. These were the first and only colonial coinage authorized and produced in Britain for use in the American colonies. This gives the Virginia pieces the claim of being the only true American colonial coinage. Portrait of King George the III, facing right is featured on the obverse.

1773 Virginia
Halfpenny. Newman 25-M, W-1580. Rarity-2. Period After GEORGIVS, 7 Harp
Strings. MS-63 BN (PCGS).
117.4 grains. A handsome piece with lively luster throughout. Obverse toned to
a light golden-olive with orange at the borders; the reverse more of a
tan-brown and mellowed mint red. The strike is bold and perfectly centered on
the planchet. Only minute abrasions, none worthy of note, and no distracting
toning spots. An appealing Choice Mint State example.
