Spectactulor condition, non dug, 1808-18012 Infantry Officers Coat button.This button has a slight convex to it, with the raised design pattern. Made of copper with a Sheffield silver plate over. The face shows extreme detail and has an absolute gorgeous patina. The pictures do not do justice. The front shows the flying eagle atop of a forked lightning bolt, and within its one claw holds a petal olive branch. Below is the pointed shield, with the initails "Rt" at the bottom for Regiment. On the right side is three rifle bayonets, a spear ,and a sword, with below a forage cap with feather. The left side has an American flag draped over a sideways drum. The back has the full stand up shank intact, along with the very nice back mark "SUPERFINE/WARRANTED" each within its own ribbon. A very hard button to find.
