FIRST A WORD ON THE COLLECTION

I have been collecting mainly civil war era buttons since 1990. Which is not a long time to some other button collectors. At first my collection consisted of only a few very nice quality union ones. I was very leary of buying any confederate ones at all. So I bought every book I could and dealt with a few select dealers, and time has flown buy. To where I am now concentrating on confederate locals only. I also of late have been fascinated by earlier period buttons from the rev war, war of 1812 era, and also early Official Diplomat buttons. All of these take us through a time in history when buttons were very crude to becoming works of art.

I have learned a lot over the years, and do not consider my self an expert by any means.

All of these buttons are a piece of our history, no matter how small, and deserve to be preserved for the future.
